Too much alcohol can lead to hemmorroids (hemmeroids). When drinking large amounts of beer, the increased fluid level in the body will put a load on the veins and it seems also as if alcohol has a tendency to change the circulation in a way that the veins in the rectal area are filled first. Long time alcohol problems can lead to liver cirrosis, which in turn means that blood from the porta vein cannot pass through the liver in the normal way but will have to take other routes. One of these other routes are through the veins in the rectum, which can cause hemorrhoids (haemorrhoids).
